Cortland Voted No. 1 in 2020 SUNYAC Baseball Preseason Poll

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The 2020 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) baseball preseason coaches poll ranks Cortland at the top followed by Oswego at No. 2 and Brockport at No. 3.

In 2020 Cortland will look to capture its 35th overall and first since 2016 SUNYAC baseball crown. The 2019 SUNYAC Walt Nitardy Coach of the Year, Joe Brown coached nine players to All-Conference status including the Co‐Don Axtell Pitcher of the Year Matt Valin and the Bob Wallace Player of the Year Scott Giordano. Cortland earned an at-large bid into the 2019 NCAA baseball tournament and went on to win the Cortland New York Regional. The Red Dragons ended their season 34-13-1 overall after losing to Babson in the NCAA Super Regionals.

Oswego won its third-straight and 15th overall SUNYAC title in 2019 as the second seed. Eight Lakers were named to the 2019 All-SUNYAC team including the Co-Don Axtell Pitcher of the Year Nick DeMarco. Oswego's Paul Tammaro was named the 2019 Clark V. Whited Rookie of the Year. The Lakers ended their season in the NCAA regional tournament with an overall record of 29-14.

Brockport looks to return to the SUNYAC tournament in 2020 after falling short in 2019 for the first time since 2013. Three Golden Eagles were named to the All-Conference team last season. Brockport will look to earn a spot in the four-team double elimination conference championship for a chance to win its sixth overall and first since 2010 SUNYAC title.
