SUNYAC Selects PrestoSports Baseball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week Awards

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces the first PrestoSports Baseball weekly awards of the 2020 season. Cortland's Joe Tardiff (Cutchogue, N.Y.) has been named the PrestoSports Baseball Athlete of the Week and Brockport's Kyle Canavally (Schenectady, N.Y.) has been named the PrestoSports Pitcher of the Week. 

Tardif batted .500 (5-for-10) with a walk, stolen base, three RBI and two runs scored in a 2-1 weekend for the Red Dragons in Maryland. He went 2-for-2 with a steal in a 4-2 win at Hood College on Friday, followed by a 2-for-5 effort with three RBI in a 10-9 win at 13th-ranked Salisbury Saturday. Tardif closed the weekend by going 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored in a 9-8 loss at Salisbury on Sunday.

In four innings of action, pitcher Canavally allowed just one hit and struck out five batters against Alfred State. During his start on the mound he did not allow a single earned run in the four innings, owning a 0.00 ERA after opening weekend.
