Cortland Wins 2021 SUNYAC Baseball Title

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland beat Oswego, 8-6, to win its 35th overall State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) baseball title and first since 2016, Saturday at Cortland's Robert H. Wallace '53 Field. With the win Cortland earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III baseball tournament. Oswego awaits a potential at-large bid as the No. 1 ranked team in the New York Region.

Cortland and Oswego split the first two games of the best-of-three championship series on Friday. In the final game on Saturday, Scott Roberts earned the win on the mound for the Red Dragons and was named the Tournament MVP. Roberts allowed just one run in 7.1 innings and struck out three.

The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. This year's baseball honoree is Oswego's Ryan Enos, with a 4.00 GPA in the wellness management program.
