Oneonta's Wells and Jones recognized as Field Hockey Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected its weekly award winners for field hockey. Oneonta senior Allyson Wells is the Offensive Athlete of the Week, while her teammate, junior Danell Jones, is the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Wells paced the Red Dragons to a 2-0 record this past week with a pair of SUNYAC victories. She assisted on the first goal in a 2-1 victory over Geneseo on Friday. The senior capped off her week with two goals and two assists in a 9-1 victory over Brockport on Saturday. Wells netted the game-winner against Brockport on a penalty stroke in the fifth minute.

Jones also helped the Red Dragons earn two SUNYAC victories this past weekend. She made 13 saves in a hard fought 2-1 win over Geneseo on Friday evening. Jones made a pair of saves in a 9-1 victory over Brockport on Saturday. The junior earned a .882 save percentage with a 1.08 goals against average as the Red Dragons took over sole possession of first place in the SUNYAC.
