Geneseo Sweeps Field Hockey Weekly Honors

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honored Geneseo teammates Erin Nolan (Sr, Commack, N.Y.) and Natalie Chonjnacki (So, West Seneca, N.Y.) with its PrestoSports Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Athlete of the Week Awards respectively.

Nolan scored two goals in each of the Knights' games this week to propel the Geneseo offense to two victories. Against William Smith, Nolan broke a scoreless tie in the third quarter with back-to-back goals to put the Knights ahead. Against Skidmore, she scored two more goals, leading Geneseo to its first-ever victory over the Thoroughbreds in 10 meetings. Nolan is tied for the conference lead with four goals after stringing together multi-goal games for the first time in her career.

Chojnacki allowed just one goal in two games as the Knights posted two non-conference wins, defeating William Smith, 4-0, on Wednesday and earning a 4-1 victory over Skidmore on Saturday. Chojnacki earned a seven-save shutout against the Herons and made seven saves against the Thoroughbreds as well, posting a .933 save percentage and 0.58 goals against average over the two-game span. The sophomore goalkeeper leads the SUNYAC with an .844 save percentage through four games.
