SUNYAC releases PrestoSports Field Hockey Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Cortland's Hannah Burchell (Whitney Point, N.Y.) and Oneonta's Kristy Campana (Melville, N.Y.) its PrestoSports Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Burchell helped lead Cortland to two victories last week, totaling six points on two goals and two assists. In a 3-0 non-conference home win versus Houghton on Wednesday, she tallied the game-winning goal midway through the first quarter and assisted on an insurance goal 31 seconds before halftime. Burchell then netted a goal early in the third quarter and assisted on the game winner 3:31 before the end of the second overtime period as the Red Dragons defeated New Paltz, 3-2, to claim the second seed in the upcoming conference tournament. For the season, Burchell has 21 points on seven goals and a team-high seven assists.

Campana, the sophomore goalie, helped pace Oneonta to a pair of wins this past week with two shutouts. Campana began her week with seven saves in a 1-0 overtime victory against Ithaca College. Campana followed that up with a 2-0 shutout of Brockport in a playoff clinching win.
