Plattsburgh and Oneonta to Meet in the SUNYAC Men's Basketball Championship

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Cardinals and the Red Dragons both took care of business in their SUNYAC semi-inal games and will meet in the championship game on Saturday. The night started with Oneonta taking down the Golden Eagles of Brockport, 82-77 followed by a convincing Plattsburgh win against Oswego, 89-76.

Despite grabbing an early lead, Brockport could not keep up with Oneonta for the rest of the game. The first half ended with only a five point deficit for the Golden Eagles to overcome, but an improved offensive effort from Oneonta proved too much for Brockport after both teams had trouble finding a rythym in the first half. Oneonta's Kevin Mackin led the way for Oneonta with 18 points but an impressive 11 points from off the bench for Harrsion Deegan was a crucial part of Oneonta's offense.

Plattsburgh got it done in front of their home crowd, winning big against Oswego. Multiple-time SUNYAC player of the week Jonathan Patron put up an impressive 35 points and 13 rebounds, leading both teams in both categories. The Cardinals got off to a hot start and did not look back as they look to keep their momentum going into tomorrow.

The SUNYAC men's basketball championship game of will take place in Plattsburgh Saturday, February 24, at 4 p.m. in Plattsburgh's Memorial Hall as the Cardinals look to get a home win against Oneonta.
