OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's basketball team had itself quite a Monday, as it earned the right to host an NCAA Championship First and Second Round pod over the weekend, cracked the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll for the first time in 2018-19 and was ranked No. 1 in the East Region. Monday was made possible by capturing the SUNYAC Championship and the conference's automatic berth to the national tournament with wins last Friday and Saturday.

Oswego (22-5) hosts a four-team pod on Friday and Saturday, as Baldwin Wallace University (20-8), Salem State University (18-9) and Salisbury University (19-8) will join the Lakers in Max Ziel Gymnasium. Friday starts with a 5:30 p.m. contest between Baldwin Wallace and Salisbury before the host Lakers battle Salem State at 7:30 p.m. The advancing teams will tip-off at 7 p.m. on Saturday with a trip to the Division III Sweet 16 on the line.

Baldwin Wallace and Salem State made their ways into the tournament like Oswego, with the former winning the Ohio Athletic Conference and the latter capturing the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference. Salisbury achieved a spot in the tournament with an at-large, Pool C bid, after losing in the Capital Athletic Conference's semifinal against Christopher Newport University, a team that is hosting a pod on the other side of the bracket.

For Oswego, Saturday's SUNYAC title game victory is the fourth postseason conference crown the Lakers have won in the last eight seasons. The trip to the 2019 NCAA Championship is its sixth all-time appearance, all of which have come in the last nine years.

Tickets for the games this weekend will go on-sale on Wednesday and will be available via phone (315) 312-3073, online at tickets.oswego.edu or by visiting the Marano Campus Center Box Office. Prices of tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, students and children while children under the age of two will be free.

The championship page, which is linked at the top of the release, is a working document and will be edited with more information as it becomes available. Be sure to check the championship page, social media or download the Oswego Lakers mobile app to get all the information as it is released.
