SUNYAC announces athletes of the week for the week of Nov. 24-30

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has picked atheletes of the week for their performances during the week of November 24-30.
ICE HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Chase Nieuwendyk (JR)
Brockport, Forward (Georgetown, ONT)
Chase Nieuwendyk was named the Rutland Herald Invitational Tournament MVP after leading The College at Brockport to the championship game victory. On the tournament Nieuwendyk scored three goals and added two assists to help Brockport to victories over Tufts and Manhattanville.
ICE HOCKEY GOALIE OF THE WEEK - Nick Horrigan (SR)
Geneseo, G (Mount Forrest, Ontario)
Horrigan was credited with 29 saves in the Knights' 2-1 victory at No. 5 Oswego on Tuesday. Despite the Lakers finishing with a 30-16 advantage in shots, including a 15-3 margin in the first period, Horrigan kept Oswego off the board until the final second of the game as the Lakers scored their only goal during a 6-on-5 opportunity with :01 on the clock.
ICE HOCKEY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Steven Dombrowsky (FR)
Morrisville, GK (Elizabethtown, Pa.)
Dombrowsky was a defensive mainstay for the Mustangs in the 3-2 OT win over #15 Williams College on Sunday. In the contest he posted 36 total saves in 61:20 played, including 14 in the second period, eight in the third and one in the extra frame to secure the tournament win at the Skidmore Invitational for Morrisville State. He was named to the All-Tournament Team.
MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – R.J. Rosa (SR)
New Paltz, G/F (North Branch/Sullivan West)
New Paltz senior guard/forward R.J. Rosa led the Hawks to a 74-57 win over Mount Saint Mary College on Tuesday night, marking New Paltz's first win of the 2014-15 campaign. Rosa scored 20 points off 7-of-15 shooting from the floor and 3-of-6 shooting from the line, and he also added 12 rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block. For the season, he leads the team in assists per game (3.3) and steals per game (2.3) in addition to averaging 16.0 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game. New Paltz (1-4) kicks off its SUNYAC schedule on Friday, Dec. 5, at SUNY Plattsburgh. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brittney Dumas (JR)
Cortland, Forward (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow)
Dumas recorded 23 points (10-of-18 shooting), 11 rebounds and three blocked shots in Cortland's 71-41 win at William Smith last Tuesday. The victory was Cortland's first over the Herons since the 2006-07 season. Through four games for the 4-0 Rec Dragons, Dumas has three double-doubles and is averaging 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
