SUNYAC selects Men's Ice Hockey Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Ice Hockey Athletes of the Week have been selected. The Player of the Week is Tyson Empey (Swift Current, Saskatchewan/ Flin Flon Bombers), the Rookie of the Week is Corey Tam (Nepean, Ontario / Nepean Raiders), and the Goaltender of the Week is Nate Skidmore (Syracuse, N.Y.).

Empey, started the season on fire for the Geneseo Knights, totaling six points in the team's first two games. He had one goal and one assist in the 10-0 win over King's College. In the second game against Neumann, Empey scored three goals and dished out an assist in the 8-0 win.

Brockport's Corey Tam opened his collegiate career during the weekend by scoring 2 goals and adding one assist. He wasted no time getting on the score sheet, scoring just seven minutes and 44 seconds into the first period of the first game against Neumann. Tam added another goal in the second period, helping the Golden Eagles to a 4-3 win. In his second game against King's College, Tam assisted on one of the two Brockport goals and they went on to win 2-0.

Skidmore, anchored Potsdam to a 2-0 start to the season, allowing four goals in two games and posting a .935 save percentage. He stopped 30 shots on goal and allowed only one goal in Potsdam's 3-1 win at St. Michael's. Then he stopped 28 shots on goal and allowed three goals in Potsdam's 7-3 home victory against St. Michael's.
