SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Athletes of the Week honored

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen Geneseo's Devin McDonald (Calgary, Alta. / Camrose Kodiaks) as the Goalie of the Week, Andrew Husted (Niagara Falls, N.Y. / New Jersey Titans) of Buffalo St. as the Rookie of the Week, and Oswego's Josh Zizek (St. Catharines, Ont. / Nepean Raiders) as the Player of the Week.

McDonald has won his third SUNYAC Athlete of the Week honor in a row and does not seem to be slowing down. This week McDonald made a season-high 28 saves as Geneseo defeated Brockport 4-0. The Knights have now won a program-record nine consecutive games. McDonald has strung together three straight shutouts, which is the first time a goalie has done that in the 44-year history of the program. He currently ranks second in Division III with a 0.84 goals against average and a .957 save percentage.

Husted, the Buffalo freshman, broke out with three goals in two games against Morrisville on Friday and Saturday. In the first game Husted scored two goals on five shots as Buffalo St. won 5-3. He also added a goal in the second game as the Bengals went on to win 4-3 in OT.

Oswego's junior forward, Josh Zizek, played an important role in the Lakers 2-0 weekend. He stuffed the stat sheet with three goals, three assists, one game-winning goal, and six total points. Against Potsdam, Zizek recorded his first hat trick of the season and also added one assist as the Lakers defeated Potsdam, 5-2. In the second game against rival Plattsburgh, he dished out two assists and helped Oswego win by a score of 4-0. Zizek is now tied for the team lead in points with 11.
