Geneseo Men's Ice Hockey Through to National Quarterfinals, Will Face Adrian or Hobart on March 21

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team received a first-round bye and will face the winner of Hobart and host Adrian in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Tournament on Saturday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m.

Geneseo earned an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship for the third-consecutive season. Geneseo defeated Oswego, 4-1, on Saturday night to lift the trophy. 

The Knights are led by senior forwards Andrew Romano and Conlan Keenan who rank first and third in the nation, respectively, in points. Romano has scored 14 goals and dished off a nation-leading 42 assists for 56 points while Keenan has scored a team-high 22 goals and handed out 28 assists. The Geneseo offense leads the nation with 5.11 goals per game while allowing just 1.93 goals per game. The Knights' +3.19 scoring margin also leads the country while the Geneseo power play ranks third in the country with 48 goals on 149 opportunities (.322). 

Junior goaltender Aaron Mackay was named SUNYAC Tournament MVP as he allowed one goal and made 50 saves over the Knights' two postseason games. The SUNYAC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year has allowed 1.91 goals per game, ranking 11th in the nation, while posting a 14-2-1 record between the pipes. 

Geneseo advanced to the Frozen Four a year ago, defeating Manhattanville, 8-2, in the quarterfinal round to advance to the Frozen Four for the third time in program history. The Knights eventually fell to Norwich, 4-2, in the national semifinal.
