CORTLAND, N.Y. - Plattsburgh was picked No. 1 in the East division while Cortland tops the West division in the 2021 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's lacrosse preseason poll voted on by the league coaches.
The SUNYAC will resume men's lacrosse conference play on March 26 after the 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Typically the SUNYAC conducts a seven-game, full round-robin regular season schedule; however, to limit travel the conference has split into East/West divisions for 2021.
In 2019 Cortland finished regular season play undefeated in the conference, 6-0, and went on to win its 26th overall SUNYAC men's lacrosse title, which is the most in the conference. Geneseo has three titles overall while Plattsburgh holds one. Plattsburgh and Geneseo both finished the 2019 regular season 4-2 in conference play. They faced off in the semifinals and with a final score of 11-10, the Geneseo Knights moved on to the finals.
