SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cortland sweeps the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's lacrosse weekly awards in the second week of the 2021 season. Zak Jones was named the Athlete of the Week, while Marc Esposito was selected the Goalie of the Week for the second time in two weeks.
Jones led the Red Dragons with five points on four goals and one assist in an 11-9 home victory versus Clarkson in non-conference action on Tuesday. All four of his goals came in the second half as he netted four of Cortland's final six goals.
Esposito matched his career high with 16 saves and added three ground balls and a caused turnover in an 11-9 home non-conference win versus Clarkson on Tuesday. Seven of the saves came in the fourth quarter as the Red Dragons outscored the Golden Knights, 4-1, to overcome an 8-7 deficit and secure the victory. For the season, Esposito has a 2-1 record with an 8.91 GAA and a 60.7 save percentage.
