SUNYAC names Giordano and Ormsby Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, NY - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Nicholas Giordano from Oneonta the Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week and Cortland's Migell Ormsby the Offensive Athlete of the Week for the first week of the 2017 season.

Giordano played every minute of the Red Dragons' first two shutout games of the season, guiding them to a 2-0 record.  In the opener against Manhattanville, Giordano made seven saves in a 4-0 win. Giordino had nine saves, including six in the second half when Oneonta was a man down, in a 2-0 victory against Stevens Institute.

Ormsby helped lead the nationally 13th-ranked Red Dragons to two victories at the Hobart Tournament, scoring in both games to give the Red Dragons a 2-0 start to their season.  In a 3-2 victory over #4 Brandeis on Saturday, Ormsby scored the first goal for Cortland in the 27th minute.  In a 1-0 win over Eastern Connecticut State on Sunday, Ormsby made the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute, knocking a shot off the left post and over the goal line on a bicycle kick near the top of the box.
