Buffalo St. falls to Hobart, 2-0, in NCAA men's soccer playoff action

BUFFALO, N.Y.- The Buffalo State Bengals had their terrific season come to an end, losing 2-0 to Hobart College in Saturday evening's NCAA Men's Soccer Playoff First Round action.

The host Bengals started off on the attack against the Statesman.  In the twelfth minute, Buffalo State nearly scored off of a corner kick that was redirected and hit off of the crossbar. Hobart quickly was able to answer with a goal by Patrick Schulz off of a corner kick in the sixteenth minute.

Over the next twenty-five minutes each team's goalie made tremendous saves to keep their team in the game.

Then, in the forty-second minute, Hobart's Mouhamed Diouf streaked through the Buffalo State defense and ripped a shot that found the back of the net and extended the lead to 2-0.

After halftime, Buffalo State looked to strike back.  One of their best chances came in the forty-eighth minute, when a scrum in front of the goal nearly resulted in a score.

Unfortunately, a red card in the sixty-second minute put Buffalo St. at an indefinite disadvantage.  Hobart then controlled the pace of play for the remainder of the game, with the Bengals having few scoring opportunities.

Andreas Queen recorded three saves for the Bengals, while Alec Kaminer tallied six for Hobart.

The Statesman will now move on to play Messiah College on Sunday, November 12, at 7 p.m.
