Cortland blanks Mount Saint Mary's in NCAA First Round

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Migell Ormsby (Kingston, Jamaica/DeWitt Clinton (NY)) scored twice and Miguel Tunas (North Salem) assisted on Cortland's first two goals as the nationally 15th-ranked Red Dragons shut out Mt. St. Mary College, 3-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Division III tournament.

Cortland (16-3) will play either Middlebury or Stevens Institute in the NCAA second round in Cortland 1 p.m. Sunday. Mt. St. Mary finishes the season 12-8; the Knights were making their second-ever NCAA appearance.

Ormsby headed in a corner kick from Tunas in the 10th minute to give Cortland an early lead. The lead grew to 2-0 in the 19th minute when Tunas served a free kick into the box to Matt Hellerman (Smithtown/Smithtown West), who headed the ball in from short range for his first goal of the season. Tunas is Cortland's leader this season with 11 assists.

Cortland closed the scoring in the 78th minute when Ormsby spun and drilled a shot from almost 20 yards out inside the left post. Ormsby leads the Red Dragons with 11 goals this fall.

Cortland goalie Connor Young (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) made three saves for his 10th shutout of the season. The Red Dragons also recorded a team save on a shot by the Knights' Matt Fuge with 7:35 left to preserve the shutout. Mt. St. Mary goalie Tyler Rapp made seven saves.
