Senior Spotlight: Nicholas Pfeiffer

CORTLAND, N.Y. - This week's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Soccer Senior Spotlight is on Cortland's Nicholas Pfeiffer.

Pfeiffer, an inclusive childhood education major from Commack, N.Y., played in 48 games with 33 starts at defense for the Red Dragons in the last three seasons. Pfeiffer helped lead a defense that allowed one goal or less 13 times in 2019. The team finished 17-3-3 in 2018 and advanced to NCAA Division III Sweet 16. Cortland also went 16-4 and advanced to the NCAA second round in 2017.

When did you begin competing in your sport?

I started playing soccer when I was seven

If you weren't playing your sport at the collegiate level, what other sport do you think you would be competing in at the collegiate level?

If I wasn't playing soccer in college, the other sport that I would be most dominate in would be baseball.

What is your favorite memory as a student-athlete?

Scoring two goals in the NCAA tournament and advancing to the sweet sixteen.

What is your major and why did you choose it?

I'm an inclusive education major because I see myself helping other people out to achieve their academic goals.

What are your plans for after graduation?

I plan on getting my bachelor's degree here at Cortland and becoming a special education teacher.

What will you miss most about being at school?

I will definitely miss the friendships that I created with people.

Who is your favorite athlete?

My favorite athlete would have to be Conor McGregor.

Who had the greatest impact on you during your athletic career?

My father was the one who always pushed me to do better in soccer. He always drove me to games, tournaments, and practices. He was always there for me.

If you had to eat just one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My mother's chicken cutlets

What's something about you that might surprise other people?

I love cooking
