Phelps, Moser honored as Men's Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the recipients for its weekly awards in men's swimming and diving. Geneseo freshman Mitchell Phelps of Owego, N.Y., is the Swimmer of the Week, while Buffalo State senior Justin Moser of Tonawanda, N.Y., is the Diver of the Week.

In the Knights' dual meet with NCAA Division I Canisius, Phelps placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.23 and added a second place finish in the 100 back (54.39) to pace the Knights. He also swam the opening leg of the Knights' 200 Medley Relay, helping the team to a second-place finish (1:38.03).

Moser won on the 3-meter board with a score of 267.82 and placed second in the 1-meter event (270.45) on Friday against the University of Rochester. He also took both diving events on Saturday against Monroe CC, posting scores of 248.05 in the 1-meter and 316.00 in the 3-meter. His 3-meter score was the first of two required qualifying scores for the NCAA regionals and set a new personal best.
