SUNYAC announces first 2017 indoor track and field weekly honors

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected its first 2017 Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week endings December 3.

Brockport's senior Marquise Riddick (Albion, N.Y.) was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week after he finished first in the long jump over the weekend. His jump tallied a length of 6.78m, which helped lead Brockport to a first place finish in the Early Season Invite. 

Fredonia's junior Merlin Joseph (Binghamton, N.Y.) was honored with the Track Athlete of the Week award. Joseph ran a personal-best 8:50.72 to finish second in the 3,000 meters at the Youngstown State University Icebreaker on Fri., Dec. 1. His time, just 1.3 seconds behind a Division I runner and 13 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher, was 14 seconds than his previous best. His second-place finish was the best by any Fredonia athlete at the season-opening meet.
