CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces its PrestoSports Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 6-12. Oneonta teammates Nicholas Grasso (Goshen, N.Y.) and Norberto Cervantes (Williamson, N.Y.) have been named the Track and Field Athletes respectively.
Grasso won the 400 meter and was third in the 200 to help lead Oneonta to a second place finish as a team at the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational at Shenandoah. Grasso crossed the line in 51.30 seconds to win the 400 and then posted a time of 23.46 later on in the 200 meter.
Cervantes finished second in the weight throw on Sunday, as Oneonta finished second at the Kaye and JJ Smith Invitational at Shenandoah. Cervantes posted a mark of 17.16 meters, which puts him top-5 nationally in Division III. Cervantes also posted a ninth place finish in the shot put (11.85m).
