Cortland Men's Track and Field Awarded with Weekly Honors

CORTLAND N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects two Cortland Athletes for its weekly Men's Track and Field awards. Senior Storm Malone (Highland, N.Y.) is named Track Athlete of the Week, while sophomore David Bernstein (Norwich, N.Y.) is named Field Athlete of the Week.

Malone finished fourth out of 41 competitors in the 110-meter hurdles at the Shippensburg Paul Kaiser Classic with a finals time of 14.90 seconds. More impressive was his preliminary time of 14.92 seconds that came into a "wall of wind" at negative 9.6 meters/second. Malone is currently ranked fourth in the AARTFC and 29th nationally in the event.

Bernstein won the hammer throw at two different meets over the weekend. He finished first out of 42 competitors at Shippensburg's Paul Kaiser Classic with a career-best throw of 56.22 meters (184' 5"), which increases his lead in the event in the SUNYAC and is ranked first regionally and 20th nationally. The following day at the Cornell Big Red Invitational he won with a distance of 55.93 meters (183' 6"), which is also better than any other SUNYAC athlete this spring.
