Geneseo wins 2019 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Geneseo was able to take home the 2019 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's outdoor track and field championship with 210.5 points Saturday at Brockport College. This is their 7th SUNYAC title overall.

RESULTS

Record Breakers:

Joe Weaver, a freshman at Brockport, broke the meet record and conference record in pole vault with a vault of 5.07 m.

Sean Welch, a senior at Geneseo, broke the facility record in the men's 5000m with a time of 14:46.63.

Zach Kashmer broke the meet record and the facility record in the decathlon with a score of 6,506 points.

Athletes of the Meet:

The SUNYAC honored both the Outstanding Track Athlete and Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet at the awards ceremony following the championships.

The Male Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet was awarded to Oneonta's Tyler O'Bryant.

The Male Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet was awarded to Tony DeYoung from Brockport.

The All-Conference first, second and third teams consist of the top three finishers in each event. (View PDF)

Elite 20

The SUNYAC Elite 20, is an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, which recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The award winner for men's outdoor track and field was given to Alexander Hepburn from Plattsburgh.
