SUNYAC Announces 2019 Men's Cross Country Annual Awards

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces the 2019 Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year as voted on by the conference coaches.

Runner of the Year - Sean McAneny, Geneseo

In his senior year, McAneny has been named the Runner of the Year for the second straight season after winning his second-straight SUNYAC championship and helping propel Geneseo to it's 18th overall title. He finished the 8K race with a time of 25:28.0. McAneny and Geneseo made an appearance at this year's NCAA championship meet finishing eighth place out of 32 teams.

Co-Rookie of the Year - Ezra Ruggles, Geneseo

Ruggles' efforts help propel Geneseo to a strong performance in the championship meet taking home the SUNYAC trophy and ran in the NCAA championship tournament, placing 145 out of 280 runners. Ruggles finished with a time of 25:46.1 and an average mile of 5:11.8.

Co-Rookie of the Year - Brandon Martin, Oneonta

Martin ran for the Red Dragons in his first season as a collegiate athlete and competed in both the SUNYAC championship and the 2019 NCAA championship meet. In the SUNYAC meet he ran the 8K race in 26:18.8 placing 14th out of 117 runners. His efforts contributed to the at-large bid Oneonta received to attend the NCAA championship in Louisville, Kentucky. In that race Martin finished with a time of 27:01.5.

Coach of the Year - Dan Moore, Geneseo

This season Dan Moore led his men's team to its six straight SUNYAC title and 18th overall. At the SUNYAC championship, Geneseo had seven runners finish in the top 15 to earn all-conference honors. Moore led the Knights to another NCAA appearance where they placed eighth overall. This is Moore's fourth straight SUNYAC Coach of the Year honors.
