CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Cross Country Senior Spotlight of the Week is on Plattsburgh's Luke Groves.
Groves has competed in 20 cross country meets over three seasons for Plattsburgh. In 2019, Groves recorded third-place finishes at the Cardinal Classic (5K, 16:25.5) and the Plattsburgh State Cross Country Invite (6K, 20:06.4). Groves wrapped up 2019 with a 30th-place finish at the SUNYAC Cross Country Championships (8K , 27:03.4). He ran ran all seven races for the Cardinals in 2018, finishing 64th of 112 at the SUNYAC Championships (8K: 32:23.1). Groves also placed 128th of 307 at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships (8K: 28:38.2). In addition he won the Plattsburgh State Season Opener (5k: 16:44.13). In 2017, Groves ran in six meets for the Cardinals, finished 87th at the 8k SUNYAC Championship meet with a time of 30:59.7. He posted a 28:34.0 time at the Saratoga Invitational (8k). In the classroom, Groves is a two-time SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll honoree.
