CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces its men's Cross Country Athlete of the Decade, Coach of the Decade and All-Decade Team as nominated and voted on by the institution's sports information directors.
To be eligible for the All-Decade Team, athletes must have competed in the SUNYAC at least one season during the 2009-10 academic year through 2019-20 and athletes must have been named to the All-SUNYAC team more than once or named Athlete of the Year once. Athlete and Coach of the Decade recipients were previously named SUNYAC Athlete of the Year or Coach of the Year.
SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Decade - Isaac Garcia-Cassani, Geneseo
Garcia-Cassani was a three-time SUNYAC champion (2015-17), three-time All-Region selection, three-time All-American and had three top-10 finishes at the NCAA championships. His best finish at the NCAA's was a fourth place finish in 2016 (24:18.0). He was named the SUNYAC Rookie of the Year in 2014 as the first freshman to cross the finish line at the championship (12th place 26:02.9).
SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Decade - Dan Moore, Geneseo
Moore named the Men's Cross Country SUNYAC Coach of the Year four times (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) and he was a three-time Men's Cross Country Atlantic Region Coach of the Year (2016, 2017, 2019). He led his team to five men's cross country SUNYAC Championship titles (2015-2019), four men's Atlantic Regional championships (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019) and five-consecutive top-11 finishes at the NCAA championships (National runner-up in 2016). Moore coached five men's individual SUNYAC champions (2015-2019), two individual men's regional champions (2015, 2016) and four men's All-Americans.
