SUNYAC announces Softball Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced this week's Softball Athletes of the Week. The recipients were chosen from nominations from all-around the conference. 

Cortland's Hannah Feldman has been selected as the Softball Athlete of the Week. In Cortland's lone game during the week, Feldman went 2-for-4 with a walk, two homers, five RBI and three runs scored in a 12-9 win over visiting Rochester. The Buffalo native hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, but wasn't finished just yet. Feldman was a key contributor in securing the Red Dragons victory, as she hit the game-winning three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to cap a six-run inning for the Red Dragons.

Plattsburgh's Katie Pitkin was selected as the Softball Pitcher of the Week. The senior pitcher did solid work on the mound Wednesday againts Middlebury College, striking out five batters in four innings of play. Pitkins only yielded two unearned runs on two hits and three walks, for the season, Pitkin leads her team in ERA (3.39), strikeouts (37), and wins (4).
