Buffalo State and New Paltz take home weekly softball honors

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen Buffalo State's Chelsea Davis (Lancaster, NY) and New Paltz's Katie Quagliana (East Amherst, NY) as the SUNYAC Athlete and Pitcher of the Week.

The freshman catcher Chelsea Davis, hit .467 (7 of 15) in the final four games in Florida, pacing the Bengals to three victories over Oberlin, Wisconsin-River Falls and Miami-Hamilton. Davis had a double, five RBIs, and three runs scored in the four-game set. Davis and the Bengals look to stay hot this week as they face Fredonia, Brockport and Geneseo.

Quagliana continued a stellar freshman start to the season for the Hawks by pitching her first career no-hitter and just the fifth no-hitter in program history against defending SUNYAC Champions SUNY Geneseo. Quagliana threw all seven innings, giving up no hits or runs and just two walks with a strikeout in a 2-0 win over the Knights in game one of the double header Friday. Quagliana got another start against Brockport the following day and pitched another complete game, throwing eight innings, while giving up just seven hits, three runs and just two walks with three strikeouts. The Hawks have a big conference weekend coming up as they travel to Cortland and then Oswego for two doubleheaders.
