CORTLAND N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland's Cady Walts (Cortland, N.Y.) as the Softball Pitcher of the Week and Danni Napoli (Wading River, N.Y.) from Geneseo as the Softball Athlete of the Week.

Walts allowed only eight hits and five walks and struck out 28 batters over 18 innings in three starts during the week for the Red Dragons. In a 2-0 win over New Paltz on Sunday Walts was one out away from a no-hitter before allowing a single with two outs in the top of the seventh. She finished with a one-hitter and struck out a career-high 13 batters. Earlier in the week, Walts fanned 11 batters and gave up only two hits and three walks in a 16-0, five-inning victory at Potsdam. She finished the week with a 1.56 ERA and a 2-0 record (she had a no decision in Cortland's 5-4 win vs. Oneonta on Saturday).

Napoli batted .650 (13-for-20) in six games this week, hitting four doubles, two home runs, and driving in eight RBIs as the Knights went 6-0, including four conference wins. On Friday against Buffalo State, Napoli belted her 19th-career home run, setting the Geneseo all-time record for career home runs, as part of a 6-for-8 performance with three doubles, three runs scored and four RBI. Against Fredonia on Sunday, Napoli went 4-for-6 in the two games combined, smashing another home run against the Blue Devils.
