Cortland Sports Information Department

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland senior outfielder Kelly O'Gorman has been chosen to the 2020 Division III Softball Academic All-District team for District 3. The team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

O'Gorman earned all-district honors for the third straight year. In Division III, District 3 encompasses all schools in New York State. She is eligible for national Academic All-America recognition, which will be announced during the second week of June.

O'Gorman is an inclusive childhood education major with a 3.94 cumulative grade point average prior to the spring semester.

Over the past four years, O'Gorman played in 128 games, 127 as a starter, and batted .358 with 11 homers, 11 triples, 30 doubles, 76 RBI, 41 walks, 29 steals and 99 runs scored. She ranks in the top 25 at Cortland in nine career offensive categories, including eighth in triples, tied for 10th in steals, 12th in slugging percentage (.571) and 17th in batting average.

Due to the abrupt cancellation of the 2020 spring season in mid-March due to the COVID-19 outbreak, CoSIDA amended its rules for one year and allowed candidates from spring sports to be evaluated on career stats and accomplishments instead of just stats from the current season. O'Gorman played in two of Cortland's four games this season. The NCAA has granted spring student-athletes an extra year of eligibility due to the cancellation. O'Gorman has not yet decided whether she will play again next spring.
