Cortland's Felicello and Kane Tabbed Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has picked Cortland's Taylor Felicello and Courtney Kane as its Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week respectively.

Felicello hit a robust .833 (10-for-12) with two doubles, a triple, three walks, a sacrifice fly, a stolen base, six RBI and eight runs scored in a 4-0 week for the Red Dragons. She was a combined 6-for-8 with a double, triple, walk and three RBI in a sweep at Potsdam on Tuesday, and she was 4-for-4 with a double, two walks, three RBI and three runs in a home sweep of Buffalo State Saturday. Felicello also handled nine total chances at shortstop without an error, including assists on each of the last two outs of the Red Dragons' no-hitter versus Buffalo State in Game 2 of the doubleheader.

Kane tossed her second no-hitter of the season in a 4-0 win over Buffalo State Saturday. She allowed only two walks, with one of those runners erased on a double play, and finished with two strikeouts while retiring the side in each of the final five innings. Kane is the first Cortland pitcher to throw two seven-inning no-hitters in the same season since 1987. Earlier in the week, Kane allowed two runs on six hits with four strikeouts in four innings in a win at Potsdam. She finished the week 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA.
