Palmatier and Roman Tabbed SUNYAC Softball Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y - The SUNYAC has named Oneonta's Megan Palmatier the Softball Athlete of the Week while New Paltz's Lindsay Roman was selected the Pitcher of the Week.

Palmatier recorded a .471 batting average and 1.294 slugging percentage as she finished 8-for-17 with three home runs, two triples, 11 RBI and scored seven times in Oneonta's 5-1 week. In a split decision doubleheader against RPI, Palmatier finished 3-for-7 with an RBI and scored twice. In their conference opening sweep against Brockport, she finished 2-for-3 with two triples and three RBI in game one before going 1-for-1 with a two-run home run in game two. Palmatier wrapped up the weekend hitting the game-winning three-run home run in the fourth inning of game one against Geneseo, then she blasted a two-run home run in game two to secure the sweep over the Knights.

Roman made program history after throwing the first ever perfect game in a 6-0 win over Brockport Saturday. She retired 21 straight batters without giving up a single hit or walk with six strikeouts in seven innings pitched. She also earned a 2-1 extra inning win over Geneseo, pitching a complete game, going all eight innings, allowing just three hits, no earned runs with four strikeouts. She registered a complete game in a 2-1 loss to Mount Saint Mary earlier in the week, throwing seven innings and allowing just three hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts.
