Geneseo and New Paltz to play for SUNYAC women's basketball title

GENESEO, N.Y. - Geneseo and New Paltz will face off in the 2017 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball championship, Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Schrader Gym in Geneseo.

New Paltz defeated Brockport, 64-48, Friday night in the first semifinal game of the night at Geneseo. Senior Kit Small led the Hawks with 19 points. Lindsay Johnson had 14 points for the Golden Eagles who ended their season 10-17 overall.  Box Score

In the second semifinal game, Geneseo topped Cortland, 62-41. Senior Katie Durand and freshman Sara Ciotti both had 11 points for the Knights. Alyssa Crosby scored 17 for the Red Dragons.  Box Score

The Knights defeated the Hawks, 56-39, last time they faced off, February 11. New Paltz looks to defend the title and win its third overall SUNYAC crown while Geneseo is playing to win its sixth SUNYAC championship and third in the last seven years.
