Ameele awarded SUNYAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the winner for Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week. This week's winner was chosen out of nominations from across the conference.

Courtney Ameele, a senior from Oswego, has earned this week's Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Not only did Ameele help lead her team to two wins, but also had a historic weekend for Oswego as well. On Friday, Ameele reached 1,000 career points with a 3-pointer in the final minute of play at Plattsburgh, becoming the 10th player in Oswego history to reach that milestone. The 6'0 guard's 33 points, a career-high, led the Lakers to a 67-55 conference victory over the Cardinals. Ameele recorded a double-double in the win, with 13 rebounds as well. The Palmyra native finished the day with a field goal percentage of .609. On Saturday, Ameele followed up by helping Oswego to a 49-32 victory over Potsdam. She contributed 15 points to the win on 50% shooting, as well as grabbing six rebounds to go with three assists and a couple of steals.
