CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has honored Oneonta junior Alexa Amalbert (Nanuet) as the first recipient being named Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for 2019.
Amalbert was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Hat City Tournament after helping lead Oneonta to the team title. Amalbert scored a season-high 25 points in the championship game, which was a 79-61 victory against host Western Connecticut. In the game, she made 11-of-15 shots from the field including three from behind the arc. In the semifinals, Amalbert scored 13 points in a 70-60 win against William Paterson. The junior currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.5 points per game, and is second on the team with 27 assists while averaging 3.4 rebounds per contest.
