SUNYAC Announces Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the first 2018 winners for Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week. This week's winners were chosen out of nominations from across the conference.

New Paltz's Tara Bovich was named Offensive Athlete of the Week. In her collegiate debut, Bovich had a connection with the back of the net. The West Islip natve scored a team-leading eight goals on only eight shot attempts to give her a perfect shooting percentage in a dominating 22-11 win against Elmira College. In addition to her eight goals, Bovich played all 60 minutes, registered a caused turnover, and picked up a ground ball.

Geneseo's Erin Cregan was tabbed Defensive Athlete of the Week. The Knights were able to upset fifth-ranked William Smith 12-9 in a close game thanks to a big impact by Cregan. The senior midfielder played well on both ends, notching two goals of her own on four shots (50% shooting). She was also credited with three draw controls, two caused turnovers, and two ground balls, helping Geneseo overcome a 4-2 deficit at halftime to earn the victory.
