CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects New Paltz sophomore Tara Bovich (West Islip, N.Y.) as Offensive Player of the Week and Oswego junior Elianna Sanchez (Queens, N.Y.) as Defensive Player of the Week.
Bovich led the Hawks to two wins this week, leading the team in goals (7) and points (11). In Tuesday's win against Eastern Connecticut she had 5 goals and 2 assists. In Saturday's win against Potsdam she had 2 goals and 2 assists. Within the two games Bovich had an 81 shots on goal percentage.
Sanchez was 1-1 over spring break, collecting 20 saves in the process. In Wednesday's hard fought loss to undefeated Utica College, the junior recorded 14 saves, allowing 11 goals for a .560 save percentage. She also collected one ground ball. In Satuday's 23-3 win over Fredonia, Sanchez had 6 saves on 11 shots faced. The Queen's, N.Y. native posted a save percentage of .667.
