SUNYAC selects Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen Geneseo's Hannah Marafioti (Fairport, N.Y.) as this week's Offensive Player of the Week and Oswego's Danielle Walker (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Marafioti led Geneseo to wins over two nationally-ranked teams last week. She scored a career-high 10 points on eight goals and two assists, including the overtime game-winning goal in Saturday's 19-18 comeback victory over No. 18 Cortland. Marafioti scored three of the Knights' last four goals and assisted the other as the Knights beat the Red Dragons for the first time since 2005 while handing the 20-time defending SUNYAC Champions only their second loss to a conference opponent in 90 games dating back to 2009. Marafioti also totaled three goals and an assist in Geneseo's 13-11 victory at No. 25 Brockport on Wednesday. She leads the SUNYAC with 74 points and is second with 54 goals.

Walker helped the Lakers go 2-0 in the conference, being effective on both sides of the field. In Wednesday's 18-1 trouncing of Buffalo State, the senior Laker collected two ground balls and caused two turnovers. On Saturday, Walker put on a show in her senior day contest, helping Oswego beat Oneonta 14-13 (OT). She caused seven turnovers, scooped up eight ground balls and won a single-game career-high eight draws.
