SUNYAC selects Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Lexie Meager (Syracuse, N.Y.) from Cortland as the Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week and Danielle Walker (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) from Oswego as the Defensive Player of the Week. 

Meager finished the week with 12 points on five goals and seven assists, three ground balls, eight draw controls and three caused turnovers that helped the Red Dragons (11-5, 8-1 SUNYAC) earn a pair of home SUNYAC wins to secure the second seed in the conference tournament. Meager opened the week with a career-high nine points on three goals and a career-best six assists, three ground balls, six draws, and three caused turnovers in a 21-11 victory versus Oneonta on Tuesday. She then tallied two goals and one assist, including the game-winning goal just before the final horn, in a 14-13 win versus Brockport on Saturday. For the season, Meager leads Cortland with 54 points on 32 goals and 22 assists and ranked first on the team with 64 draws.

Walker continues to be a force on defense, helping the Lakers to a 2-0 week. As Oswego defeated Morrisville 13-7 on the road, the senior collected a team-high five ground balls and four caused turnovers. She also added a draw win to the stat sheet. As Oswego clinched the fourth seed in the SUNYAC Championship with a 19-7 win over New Paltz, she again led the team in ground balls with three, recording two draw wins, and one caused turnover. Walker leads the team in ground balls with 52 and caused turnovers with 40.
