Brockport women's lacrosse to Face SUNY Canton In NCAA First-Round

BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team has received a bid to the NCAA Div. III Championships for the fifth time in program history. The Golden Eagles will head to the campus of St. John Fisher College for the regional match-up this weekend, where they will face the SUNY Canton Roos.

The Golden Eagles were a force to be reckoned with all season, finishing the year with a final record of 15-4 and being crowned SUNYAC Champions for the first time in program history. In 19 games the team broke the school record for most goals in a single-season with 296 tallies. The Brockport offense is led by Seniors Sara Grapevine and Heather Conklin, the two combined for 165 points this season. Grapevine broke the school record for most assists in a single-season with 60, while Conklin broke the school record for most goals in a single-season with 69.
 
The Brockport defense has been a huge key to the Golden Eagles successes this season, led by seniors Nikki NolanJillian Babinsky, and Ashley Tack, the trio stifled oppositions goal-scorers all season long. Nolan led the team in caused turnovers with 33, and draw controls with 67. The Brockport defense ranked second in the conference in goals-against average.
 
Brockport will face the SUNY Canton Roos in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament this Saturday, May 11. The Roos boast an overall record of 14-5 and were crown the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Champions. This is the first appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the Roos.
 
The winner of Saturday's game will square off with host St. John Fisher on Sunday, May 12th. Ticket information and game times will be made available in the coming days.
