SUNYAC women's lacrosse weekly honors announced

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Oswego's Sela Wiley has been named the first 2021 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week while Morgan Elmer from Brockport was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Wiley packed the stat sheet for the Lakers in a 20-14 season-opening victory at Morrisville State on Saturday. The sophomore from Cheshire (Conn.) netted seven goals and one assist on the afternoon. Wiley added 10 draw controls, grabbed five ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. The Lakers improved to 1-0 and are scheduled to play at Brockport this coming Saturday.

In No. 13 Brockport's loss to No. 12 Ithaca, Elmer tied her career-high with 16 saves in the contest. Despite being outshot 35-13 in the contest, Elmer's work in net kept the game close as the team fell 9-7. Morgan also scooped up a team-high of four ground balls on the day.
