Cortland Wins 2024 SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Championship
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland defeated Geneseo, 14-7, to capture its 24th overall SUNYAC women's lacrosse championship crown, Saturday at Cortland's Grady Field. With the win the the Red Dragons earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III women's lacrosse tournament.
Cortland's Amy Hoeffner was named the 2024 SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse MVP after she scored eight goals, had 17 draw controls and five caused turnovers to help her team win the conference championship title.
Elite 20
The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. This year's Women's Lacrosse Elite 20 winner is Geneseo's Sophie Lyko. Lyko, a junior, holds a 4.00 cumulative GPA as a Biology major.
