SUNYAC selects Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week for the second week of the women's soccer season. The Defensive Athlete of the Week from Buffalo, NY is Geneseo junior goalkeeper Emily Janiszewski. The Offensive Athlete of the Week from Brockport, NY is Potsdam junior midfielder Brooke Falsion. For both athletes, this is their first time being selected this year as SUNYAC Athlete of the Week.

Janiszewski had an outstanding weekend with a pair of shutout victories for the Knights in wins over Nazareth, 2-0, and Skidmore, 2-0. The junior made seven saves against Nazareth and turned away six against Skidmore as the Knights improved to 4-0-0 on the season. Janiszewski and Geneseo's defense has combined for three consecutive shutouts. Geneseo has not allowed a goal in 342 consecutive minutes, dating back to their first game of the year at St. Lawrence on Sept. 1.

Falsion guided the Bears to a 2-1 week and the New England College Tournament Title with three goals. On Saturday, she scored the game-winning goal to help the Bears move past the host New England College in a 2-1 win. On Sunday, she scored two goals, including the key game-tying goal with 1:15 remaining, in Potsdam's double-overtime 3-2 win against Montclair State.
