SUNYAC announces Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week
Cortland N.Y.-  The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) would like to announce the women's soccer offensive and defensive athletes of the week. The offensive athlete of the week is the sophomore from Geneseo, Domenica Piccoli. The Defensive Athlete of the Week is the freshman from Fredonia, Marissa Quimby.

Sophomore forward Domenica Piccoli, from East Northport, N.Y., scored three goals as the Knights earned a pair of victories in their first two conference games of the year. Piccoli scored one of Geneseo's five goals against last year's conference champion Buffalo State as the Knights ran past the Bengals, 5-0. The forward netted two more goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-0 defeat of Fredonia on Saturday as well. Piccoli is tied for the Knights' team lead in goals and is third in the SUNYAC with five.

The freshman from Ballston Lake, N.Y. , Quimby posted back-to-back clean sheets over St. John Fisher and Brockport, her second and third shutouts of the season. She made a combined nine saves in those two games, then made 10 stops in a 3-0 loss to nationally ranked Geneseo. She's allowed two or fewer goals in five her eight games this season and will carry 1.87 goals against average into next weeks play.
