Falsion and Walsh take Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week honors

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Potsdam senior Brooke Falsion was selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference's (SUNYAC) first Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for the 2018 season. Geneseo senior Rachel Walsh claimed the honor of the first Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week this year.

Falsion exploded for nine points this weekend as the Bears repeated as the D'Youville Spartan Classic Champions. The senior lit up Hilbert College in the first round with two goals and an assist for five points as Potsdam cruised to an 8-0 win. Falsion then added two more markers, including the game-winner in a 5-0 shutout of the host Spartans. Falsion's performance earned her a spot on the all-tournament team.

Walsh anchored a Knights defensive unit that posted a pair of shutouts as 14th-ranked Geneseo opened the season with a pair of victories. Walsh played nearly every minute of both games, as the Knights defense allowed just six shots (three on goal) in the two games combined. Geneseo has posted clean sheets in five of its last eight contests, dating back to last season.
