CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York (SUNYAC) has selected the Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week. Plattsburgh freshman Kirsten Villemaire is the Offensive Athlete of the Week, while Plattsburgh graduate Taylor Adams has claimed Defensive Athlete of the Week honors.
Villemaire was a vital part of the Cardinals offense in their two wins this week. Villemaire scored two goals including the game-winner in their 1-0 victory over RPI on Satruday. She scored the Cardinals second goal in their 2-0 win against Union on Tuesday. Villemaire had seven shots on goal and recorded a .875 shot on goal percentage.
Meanwhile, Adams recorded two clean sheets for Plattsburgh, playing all 180 minutes in their two games this week. Adams defended the net for the Cardinals in the team's 2-0 win against Union on Tuesday, as well as the team's 1-0 victory over RPI on Saturday. She recorded 10 saves between the two games and had a 1.000 save percentage. Adams is now 4-0 this season with three shutouts.
