Hanson, Janiszewski picked as Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the recipients for its weekly women's soccer awards. Buffalo State freshman Alexis Hanson has the honors of Offensive Athlete of the Week, while Geneseo senior Emily Janiszewski is the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Hanson had a breakout weekend scoring three times, leading the Bengals to a pair of victories over Oneonta and New Paltz to open the SUNYAC season. Hanson netted the lone goal less than seven minutes into Friday's 1-0 win over Oneonta and then scored twice in Saturday's 3-0 victory against New Paltz. She leads the Bengals with four goals and nine points this season.

Janiszewski kicked off the Knights' conference schedule with a pair of shutout victories, increasing her season total to five clean sheets. Janiszewski made three saves in a 2-0 win against Potsdam, and followed up with a four-save shutout performance in a 1-0 victory over Plattsburgh. The Buffalo native has allowed just one goal in six games this season, posting a .938 save percentage and a 0.17 goals against average.
