SUNYAC selects Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced Katie Matott as the Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week and Rachel Walsh as the Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Matott was involved in a goal in all three games during Plattsburgh's 3-0 week. She scored the only goal of the match for the Cardinals in their 1-0 win against Clarkson. In the next game Matott scored the first goal of the game to give Plattsburgh a 1-0 lead before they defeated Oswego 3-1. In the final game of the week she wasn't able to score but Matott assisted on the only goal of the game, a 1-0 Plattsburgh win over Cortland. She finished the week with two goals, one assist, and a total of five points.

Walsh anchored the Geneseo defense to a 2-0 record against two SUNYAC opponents. The Knights held Oneonta to only one shot on goal in the entire match, a 1-0 Geneseo win. The only goal came on a Walsh penalty kick in the first half. Against New Paltz, Walsh and the defense allowed three shots and only two shots on goal. Geneseo defeated New Paltz 2-0 to earn their ninth shutout of the season. The Knights know has seven consecutive shutouts and have not allowed a goal in 665 minutes of game time.
