CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland's Jaden Galluzzo as the Offensive Athlete of the Week and Plattsburgh's Taylor Adams as the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Galluzzo, made a name for herself this week by scoring the first two goals of her college career. The freshman forward helped Cortland to a 2-0 week against SUNYAC opponents. In the first match against Fredonia, Galluzzo scored the game-winning goal in the 31st minute to give Cortland a 2-1 lead. She tallied a total of five shots and four shots on goal in the Red Dragons 3-1 win over Fredonia. Galluzzo didn't stop the clutch scoring there, she scored the lone goal in the 88th minute off of a Cortland corner kick in a 1-0 win over Buffalo State.
Adams, anchored Plattsburgh to a 2-0 SUNYAC sweep over the weekend. In two games she had a total of nine saves on 10 shots on goal. Against Oneonta, Adams allowed one goal and converted four saves. The goal came in the 78th minute to make the game 2-1 Plattsburgh, but the Cardinals were able to hold on and win by that same score. In the second match against New Paltz, Adams had five saves and recorded her sixth shutout of the season.
