MORE DETAILS - Geneseo vs. Plattsburgh

SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Jennifer Moran scored a pair of goals to lead the Knights to a 2-0 victory over visiting Plattsburgh on Wednesday afternoon in the semifinal round of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament.

In the 30th minute, Plattsburgh first-year forward Kirsten Villemaire intercepted a Knights clearance and shot from within 12 yards, but Geneseo senior goalkeeper Emily Janiszewski made the save. Junior back Taylor Clar nearly scored when her free kick rung off the crossbar in the 39th minute, but the teams went into halftime scoreless. Early in the second half, senior midfielder Jennifer Moran found the net with a left-footed shot from 25 yards out that glanced off the crossbar and in, putting the Knights ahead, 1-0. Moran buried an insurance goal with just over seven minutes to play when she controlled a cross from junior back Sarah Lefrois and finished a shot under the crossbar from 15 yards out.

Moran scored her first and second goals of the season and marked her third-consecutive SUNYAC Tournament game with a score, dating back to last year. Senior goalkeeper Emily Janiszewski posted a season-high eight saves to preserve her 12th shutout of the season, one shy of the single-season program record (Paula Fisher, 13). The Knights advance to the SUNYAC Championship for the fifth time in six seasons, and seek their third conference championship in five years.

MORE DETAILS - Cortland vs. Potsdam

Freshman Jaden Galluzzo (Commack) scored a pair of unassisted first-half goals to lead the Cortland women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory versus Potsdam in the SUNYAC Semifinals Wednesday afternoon. The second-seeded Red Dragons improved to 11-4-2 overall and advanced to face the top-seeded Geneseo Knights in the title game on Saturday.

Sophomore goalie Danika Svendsen (Stillwater) made four saves in posting her sixth shutout of the season. Sophomore goalie Gabby Hobika (New Hartford) registered two saves for the Bears (14-4-1).

Galluzzo scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 21st minute. After taking possession just past midfield, she carried to the right, beat two defenders and slipped a shot inside the right post for her fourth goal of the season. In the 31st minute, Galluzzo netted her fifth goal with another shot inside the left post after a defensive misplay by the Bears.  Ten minutes later, the Bears had an excellent chance to get on the scoreboard. Senior Brooke Falsion (Brockport) was sprung in alone on the left side of the box, but her contested shot missed wide left.

In the second half, Potsdam put pressure on the Red Dragons, earning an 8-5 shot advantage. The Bears' best chance to score was in the 69th minute, but senior Olivia Seamans (Bolton Landing/Bolton) missed high on an uncontested header from deep in the box.
